This body of work brings together portraits and self-portraits whose legibility has been deliberately obstructed by the author in order to force another reading.
This altered vision of faces is a transposition of the artist's experience - emotional, spiritual and physical - of how her eyesight gradually changes as a result of a brain tumour.
Existing through the senses ?
To obstruct the sight, to expose a deterioration of the senses in order to propose a new look, the author questions our senses, sentinels of the outside, tools to apprehend the external world.
By magnifying the damage she suffers, Julia Genet, offers herself a possible, a form of emancipation of the senses as the sole rapporteurs of the world and its surroundings.
These hybrid works, mixing pigments, photography and embroidery, are a proposal of emancipation from the reign of the 5 classical senses on the landmarks of the sensitive world.
